Strout Family Firearms is home to two extremely knowledgable instructors. With over five and a half decades of shooting between the pair, they have a plethora of knowledge on almost anything you could ever want to know about firearms.
Kevin is a USCCA Instructor. He has loved shooting since his father first taught him how to shoot when he was six. His love of history and the American Revolution led him to start building black powder firearms. During high school, his local Rod & Gun Club started a Junior Rifle Team and his love of precision rifle shooting and DCM matches began. In pursuit of the ultimate match rifle, he began building M1 Garand's, M14's, and M16's. With over 40 years of shooting, Kevin has taught everyone in the family and many more how to shoot. As well as being a USCCA Instructor, Kevin is also an FAA licensed Helicopter Pilot, Tae Kwon Do 2nd Degree Black Belt
and is NAUI open water certified Scuba.
Currently in the Air Force, Caleb is one of our youngest, yet most talented shooters. He learned how to shoot at just five years old. 12 years later, Caleb has completed many classes including some from Ex-Navy SEAL Fred Ruiz and Ex-82nd Airbourne "Cubby" Lewis. He is certified in Hostage Rescue and has done work in everything from buildings to cars to choppers. He is a second-degree black belt in TaeKwonDo and has trained in HoKwonDO and Krav Maga.
The ladies in the house, while not instructors, definitely hold their own!
At 16 Sophie shot her first firearm, a shotgun. After that, she didn't shoot again until she was married. Then shooting targets with a .22 was great fun! She enjoys shooting her AR-15 and doing some skeet shooting with her 20 Gauge. Sophie works behind the scenes at Strout Family Firearms handling the packages and doing an occasional firearms transfer.
"Goose" is our youngest here at Strout Family Firearms. She received her first firearms when she was just five years old! With just a few years of shooting her pink Cricket .22, "Goose" has become the best shot on the block in her age group.
